Disobey the organization of the moving world “Create, share, dream, disappear and disobey the organization of the moving world. »- Caroline Veith, September 2016 A multitude of disjointed characters invade the space. Red, black, dismantled, schematic, they occupy the work frantically. Because chaos reigns. Such is the portrait of these beings who struggle, in search of hope. Clashes, rebellion, rebellion. How to survive? These offensive gestures and postures speak of a disoriented human fable. What order prevails in this inhuman jungle? “Caroline Veith's works take us back to the Calais“ jungle ”. It is a design, not an illustration; rather the expression of a determination, of an unfinished desire. The daydream of a crossing with its dose of utopia, mystery and anguish. That of a journey, punctuated by the hallucinated, curious and tormented looks of the characters who make up the drawing, Arianne's thread. “It's the idea of movement that connects us to freedom,” says Caroline Veith. Thirty years ago, she chose the trait to express herself and, very often, to make her anger burst forth in the face of injustice and oppression. “It's always the same preoccupations that drive me: the zeitgeist, human comedy. And the chaos of the world has not finished allowing the artist to transcend his feelings through drawing, color, irony and humor, all put at the service of a work in action. "Véronique Godé, Arts Hebdo Médias, October 2016." I like drawing tools. I use tracing paper for its translucent appearance and the possibility of working the material on both sides. It is as if you were sliding on ice. In my work process, I am not illustrating a story, I am inventing one: I always start empty with the quill, in India ink, as if I were unwinding a thread. At that moment, I have the feeling of being in abstraction, as if I were building a very fine line in a labyrinth. Little by little, I cut, I glue, I destroy, it hollows out, it's like strata linked by memory, I let myself be carried away. Caroline Veith also uses oil pastels and acrylic pigments, more rarely markers. “Red represents the“ red thread ”of who we are, our moods, our moods, but also movement, breathing, life, the beating heart and the blood which circulates in our body quite simply. This color unfolds like a thread of my immediate thought to connect, build the work; she can also color my characters. Then more or less creeps in like a reassuring or disturbing decor, the vegetation - luxuriant or damaged - and its range of greens. Blue belongs to the same “nature” family that surrounds me: the exterior, the sky, the water, a fluid element with double language. "
