Presentation

Alejandra Franco has been working with earthenware for 30 years. Her workshop, in which everyone gets to work with clay, is located in the city of Concordia, in the Entre Rios province of the north of Argentina.

One day, she started to sculpt her neighbors, her friends, Argentinean in their most typical and simple way of living. Among other things, we can see them sharing "maté". Those characters are happy, they play, they dance, they talk, they smile, eat "asados". We can feel their pleasure to live. The colors on their clothes are iridescent, almost too strong, just as if this small world, insignificant on the scale of the planet, wanted to be noticed, without making too much noises.

We can see that north Argentineans are a mixed-race. We are far from the perfect international representation of perfect bodies, extremely retouched. Alejandra Franco creates mundane people, neither tall nor beautiful, but so lovable !
