Born in 1930 and died in 2015, Cesar Lopez Osornio was an Argentinian artist.
Cesar Lopez Osornio studied art at the Faculty of Fine Arts at La Plata University. In 1960, he received a scholarship allowing him to live in Japan for three years. He studied Asian art, Oriental art and landscape architecture.
When he came back, Cesar Lopez Osornio became professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts in La Plata and the Faculty of Architecture of the Catholic University La Plata. In 1975, he was forced to leave his country, so he left to discover Colombia, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico and Venezuela. Due to this experience, Cesar Lopez Osornio considered the possibility of uniting all Latin American artists. He did a first exhibition of these artists in 1992 in Europe. He received a lot of support in Spain, where he was offered many potential locations for building his museum, the city of La Plata contacted Cesar Lopez Osornio and offered to build the museum in his hometown.
In 1999, Cesar Lopez Osornio went to Argentina again and founded MACLA "Museum of Latin American contemporary artists". He head the museum until his death in 2015.
His work was extremely successful and is part of many private collections in Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Japan, Venezuela, Uruguay, Chile, United States and also in Europe.
