Pantjiya Nungurrayi

Born in 1936 - Australia

Originally from Kintore, in the Great Central Desert, Pantjiya Nungurrayi witnessed the beginnings of modern aboriginal art, when, under the impulse of Geoffrey Bardon, an arts teacher living in the region, Aborigines started to reproduce on the walls of the school, on board and finaly on canvas, drawings that they would use in rituals. The paintings were originally applied on the ground or on human bodies.
