Selma Tasman Napanangka is an Australian artist of aboriginal origin born in 1976 in Lajamanu, in an aboriginal community located on the edge of the Tanami Desert, halfway between Darwin and Alice Springs. At the age of 11, she left Lajamanu for Yuendumu, with her family. She studied at the local Yuendumu school and completed her studies at Yirara University, an aboriginal boarding house in Alice Springs. She has been painting since 2001 intermittently with the Society of Aboriginal Artists Warlukurlangu, an art center located in Yuendumu. She paints the stories of Jukurrpa told by her father and mother and the dreams related to its sacred land, its characteristics, its plants and the animals that inhabit it. Through her painting, she develops a modern interpretation of her traditional culture. His work was exhibited in Paris at the Arts Elysées modern art fair in 2015 and 2016.
