Gabi Domenig

Born in 1963 - Austria

Born in 1963 in Lienz, Austria, Gabi Domenig was attracted to fine arts from an early age.

Her love for painting encouraged her to take classes of nude painting, color theory, drawing and composition. She uses charcoal, red chalk and pastels on paper and on wood panels, which were common materials used in the 90s.

Following her first exhibition in 1999, where she presented 20 pastel paintings in large format to the public, Gabi started to paint with acrylics on canvas. The strong and bright colors and the way she applies the acrylics on the canvas, correspond very well with the nature of the artist.

Gabi's work is primarily focused on the representation of man and women through her artwork. She tries to capture moments of emotional tensions. She wants the viewer to feel a bit of the passion she feels when she paints. For her, art should be life-affirming, beautiful and touching. A language without words.

Her characters send out mixed emotions such as pride, pain, love, sadness, loneliness, joy and nostalgia. They are sensuous, strong, vulnerable, thoughtful, dreamy and seductive at the same time. The expression of the eyes attracts the observer and seduce him.
