Gerhard Frömel

Born in 1941,Grieskirchen (Austria), Gerhard Fromel lives and works in Austria. He did graphic studies with Erich Buchegger at Kunstschule Linz. Between 1975-2003, he taught at the School of Art and Industrial Art at Linz. 1969 onwards, he realized his first works of concrete art.

"My objects or installations are three-dimensional and realized through unique elements placed on two or several plans. Therefore, the spectator will be able to catch a glimpse of optical displacement, separations or assemblies, depending on where he stands. He can also discover the linear elements or the diversity of shapes as well as illusory space can be approached through two or three dimensions.

We can carry out the same experiment through the conscious experience of a city or a landscape. Each step leads towards an optical transformation: secluded buildings which are mixed up or shrunk to a wall, buildings distanced from one another and landscape glimpses that seem to align on the same plan".
