Philippe SEUTIN

Philippe Seutin was born in Hensies, in Hainaut, on September 14, 1948. A chemist by training, he worked in the field of laboratory and medical analysis. Father of three children, now adults, he lives in Daussoulx in the province of Namur. It is in a completely anecdotal way, like certain scenes that one could find in his paintings, that Philippe Seutin was discovered by an art critic. In 1990, while painting since the age of 17, he decided to give up his hobby. He entrusts his paintings to his children so that they can sell them at a flea market. And this is where the adventure begins, since the paintings attract the attention of an art lover from Liège (Michel Hanon). This will encourage Philippe Seutin to paint as he did at the age of 20! Since then, the flair of the art critic has not wavered since the painter has participated in no less than 67 exhibitions and more than 500 canvases have been painted! In 1991, he received a special mention at the Lasne International Naive Art Competition for his painting entitled 'Paid Leave'. His works were selected by the museum of naive art in Figuérès, Spain, by the museum of naive art in Laval, the museum of Ile de France in Vicq, the museum of Béraut in the Gers, the museum of Spontaneous Arts in Brussels and recently by the Daubigny museum in Auvers sur Oise. A greeting card representing a winter landscape, 'Ecole buissonière', is published by the Belgian Federation against cancer. His paintings are used in the shooting of the film "Once upon a time, once". A beautiful journey for a painter who, twenty years ago, was determined to throw away his apron!
