Born in 1982 - Belgium
Silio Durt is a Belgian artist born on October 26,1985 in Brussels. He studied narrative arts at the Ecole de Recherche Graphique in Brussels, where he got a degree in illustration and drawing (specializing in painting) in 2007.
Presenting a sort of organized disorder, Silio Durt is influenced in his work by the works of the group Cobra and by the American school as well as by the underground graphic culture led by groups like the Last Cri and Bazooka.
Silio Durt is a multidisciplinary artist, alternating canvases and drawings always with a desire to deconstruct reality. The artist proposes a reflection based on sensations thanks to a spontaneous technique: his painting is lively, poignant, saturated, he plays with emptiness and the absence of lines and thus offers a direct and accessible image.
Awarded with a special prize at the Médiatine Prize in 2010 and nominated to the Collignon prize at MAMAC in 2011, Silio Durt also participates in numerous institutional and cultural projects in Belgium. His work has been exhibited in Germany, England, Spain and the Netherlands, he develops his thoughs on art.
