Carl Soete is a Belgian artist born in 1963, he lives and works in Roeselare, Belgium. After studying graphic design, he worked as a painter since 1987.
The artist considers the city as a playground with all its signs, symbols, shapes and colors. He likes to portray the dynamism and vitality of the cities through the lights of cars that cross each other, the neon colors of the billboards or the illuminated windows in the lighted streets.
Abstract expressionism is one of the main influences of Carl Soete's painting. The pictorial richness of his pieces activate the look, which is captivated and guided by the luminous lines and spots. In an effort to decipher the "story" of his pieces, our eyes try to consider the piece as a whole and be able to perceive the harmony of the composition.
