Francis Lagneau is a French painter born in 1953

He started studying construction, but since he was very passionate about music he mounted several groups until 1991. Suffering from a neurological disease, Francis Lagneau had to stop making music and even had to stop his job, so he decided to dedicated instead to his second big passion; painting.

Fascinated by painting from an early age, Francis Lagneau particularly appreciates the work of Flemish and Surrealist painters. In the work of these famous painters, he admires specially their techniques and their treatment of light , very present among Flemish as well as among Surrealists works.

Francis Lagneau decided then to travel throughout Europe in order to visit the big museums and to be able to admire and learn from the styles of his favorite painters. He discovered as well the work of impressionists, of whom he retained the blurry aspect and integrated it in his own pieces.

Francis Lagneau describes himself as a symbolist painter, each one of his pieces have always a second perspective. Francis' work is a dream, a poesy, his pieces question our actual society and human beings; who dwell in his pieces without moralizing.
