Fabiano Gonper

Fabiano Gonper was born in João Pessoa (Brazil). He lives and works in Sao Paulo. After a first training as a sculptor, he is admitted in 1999 as an artist in residency by the Swiss Foundation for Culture Pro Helvetia.

Plastic Arts and video-drawings are part of his universe. He draws the silhouettes and observes the physical behavior of people. In the style of silent films, he draws the action without any word. He questions the circuits of art, issues such as power and politics. The concept of power is indeed at the heart of his reflection: "the power of men on other men and the power of art".

Fabiano Gonper reworks all his images in black and white and the result is both elegant and anxiety-provoking in order to obtain a graphic effect which detaches us from reality and amplifies the evoking power of his pieces.

Paris, Rio, Buenos Aires, Berlin, New York , Miami ... have all seen his shows.
