Born in 1977 - Canada
Ben Skinner was born in 1977, he grew up in a little town in the south of Ontario. He currently lives and works in Vancouver, in British-Columbia.
He obtained his high school fine arts diploma at the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in Halifax in 2000, before finishing a degree in art and technology at the Art Institute in Chicago in 2003 where he was selected for a scholarship program: Visiting Artist Price.
Ben Skinner is an expert at language and word games, he visually explores the text by using a large range of mediums. His favorite tools in the artistic creation field are words, colors and irony. His work reflects the syntax of the pop culture and his euphemisms make them funny and thoughtful.
Ben Skinner is always looking for new material and techniques to use: he creates art work by using plexiglass, gold paper, holographic paper, LED lights, spray paint, and even candies.
Ben Skinner considers himself to be a conceptual artist, as he's great with languages and words. He wants to make the spectator laugh, but think as well.
