From a small mining city in Abitibi, Réal Calder is a Canadian artist born in 1949, he lives since more than twenty years in Mont-St-Hilaire in Canada.

He studied and then taught visual arts at the University of Québec in Outaouais. He dedicates solely to painting, his artistic research in this field led him to work almost exclusively doing representations of landscapes.

He depicts nature in his paintings which play with the material, oscillating between concern and amazement at nature, following the footsteps of the sublime Edmund Bruke.

His work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Québec, Ontario, France, Israel and the Netherlands. He won a scholarship from the Council of Arts of Canada, and on several occassions from the Council of Arts and Letters of Québec.
