Arvid Wangen is a Canadian artist, born in Winnipeg but brought up in Calgary, and he went to the Alberta College of Art and Design.
He studied at the Faculty of drawing in his school but it was only in 2001, when he arrived in Vancouver that Wangen managed to define his own aesthetic as an artist.
This is when he distanced himself from his initial great gestural movements, to explore more complex techniques of paintings, through a palette knife, a technique which has become his hallmark.
