Presentation

Jean-François Favre is a painter born in 1940. He obtained a degree in fine arts when he studied in Paris and then lived in Polynesia for seven years. He then came back to France and settled his studio in Aquitaine, while traveling regularly to Polynesia and Guyana to paint and exhibit.

Water is the artist favorite subject. Whether he paints Polynesia or the Bordeaux region, it is the always the main element of the artist universe. The ground is present in filigree but in a more discrete manner, sometimes to the point of disappearing completely, like an invitation to a subtle and poetic journey.

Jean-François Favre's artistic proposal has been awarded with more than ten prizes in France and abroad, such as the silver medal by the city of Paris in 1995. In addition, the artist has illustrated numerous books, including books of poetry. Finally, Jean-Francois Favre's work is part of numerous collections in many public institutions, at the Gauguin Museum of Tahiti and the Museum of Stockholm, among others.
