Born in 1964 in Normandy, Marie-Anne Thieffry has studied at the ESAG Penninghen and at the ENSAAMA-Olivier de Serres; she is an interior architect. She worked as a creative director in advertising for 25 years, and she discovered cardboard in 2003, through the designs of architects Frank Gehry and Shigeru Ban. She then decided to return to her first love and opened her studio in 2005. Her work is centered on various artistic fields: design, sculpture, visual arts... the use cardboard and recycled paper is the unifying element in her work.

She is concerned about environmental issues in her work, and is keen on reintegrating these materials in a new cycle of life. She draws her inspiration from the world around her, in a constant search around these two materials, of light, of color, of the rhythm... The techniques she uses are: lamination, due to the graphic qualities of flutes of the corrugated cardboard, cardboard lace du to its fragility and poetic aspect and the braiding of paper for the rhythm it gives to her works. She seeks to make these techniques evolve and to bring cardboard and paper towards new and unexpected aspects.
