Presentation

Paul Rancillac was born in Paris in 1933 and goes under the pseudonym Chasse-Pot . His training consists of classical and artistic studies.

After several jobs, he devoted himself to sculpture starting in 1968. With "papier mâché", he creates a society of characters brandishing petty-bourgeois attributes, notary clerks, cartoonish soldiers, all of them very enigmatic.

"I would like my sculptures to look "stupid"- I dare to use this word - and this is, without any doubt, why for fifteen years, I have only produced these figures, always the same because, like my dog who is attracted by other dogs, I am, myself, "tempted" only by the faces and the figures of my peers."
Jean-Jules Chasse-Pot
