Mireille Cornillon

Mireille Cornillon is a painter from Lyon born in 1948. Once she finished her studies in pharmacy she moved to San Francisco for a year where she became a protraitist. Back in France, she became a pharmacist but persevered in her artistic production. In 2005, she decided to dedicate completely to painting. She lives and works in Lyon.

Mireille Cornillon worked at first with watercolors, and then diversified her technique, exploring oil paint and acrylics. She represents portraits as well as landscapes, always with the same obsession for colors. Warm and bright, they multiply on the canvas, playing specially on the contrasts. The canvas looks like amplified, piercing the view of the spectator.

Mireille Cornillon has done several solo exhibitions in Lyon. She has also participated in several group exhibitions in big cities in France.
In 2004, she received the prize of excellence at the 25th International Fair of Haute-Loire held in Puy, Velay. In 2006 she was awarded the public prize of the 50th Salon d'hiver in Lyon. Finally, in 2009, she was awarded the silver medal of Arts Science and Letters.
