French Cowboy

French Cowboy is a group of artists born from the collaboration between Mia Macfarlane and Julien Crouigneau in 2012. Both artist love photography, they put their talent together to create intriguing, poetic and colorful works, with diverse cultural influences.

Mian Macfarlane was born in South Africa, but has Swedish and American nationality. This culural background undoubtedly plays an important role in her artistic production. She graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Arts as well as from the London College of Printing, she then started an artistic career as a painter. Artistic director of "Downtown" Magazine in New York, she then moved to France. Julien Crouigneau is a French artist passionate about design. He studied at the Superior School of Industrial Design in Paris. Once he graduated, he started working for Philippe Starck, and then became graphic art director for the Thomson RCA Worldwide. He then continued working in this same field and worked as artistic director for the Intramuros and the Keith Magazine, specialized respectively in design and in music and art.

French Cowboy is also the creator of a community of photographers and artists: the IRK magazine which takes the form of a bi-annual magazine published online, where several artists create pieces according to a subject determined by Mia and Julien.
The work of the group is joyful, sparkling, definitely modern and optimistic. The colors are perfectly juxtaposed. There is a real game between the pictorial elements, in which humor and deeper reflection intervene .
