Nicolas Canu (Peintre)

Nicolas Canu was born in 1976, he's a French painter. Between the two is the key word of his life and visual work. He spent his childhood in the Parisian region, not Provence or Paris but at the heart of between the two. His father lives abroad so Canus moves between two frontiers to visit him. He has been skateboarding for a long time, and has turned it into his profession. During his travels, he wandered in transit areas: motorway rest areas, peripheral shopping malls....

His painting explores these outside out of town places, outside the countryside, distant places. These visible areas look like cinema stages. Seventh art is Nicolas Canus's muse, to experiment around with borders. Through his art, the painter is able to create a refuge, a shelter, where the spectator himself can take refuge, in his cathartic and aesthetic hideaway.
