Michel Henricot

Since he exhibits with discernment and without ever the slightest concession to fashions, Michel Henricot has perfectly defined his own domain; that of somnambulist beings, which he presents to us in a state of levitation or weightlessness. The bodies are located between wakefulness and sleep. Sometimes naked, sometimes wrapped in bands like the mummies of ancient Egypt, they are plunged into a trance. Time has no control over them and matter does not seem to concern them, because we can see through them. We must go further and consider that they belong at the same time to life and death. Promised in the long term, it looks like they are accommodating themselves with serenity with their two states. There is in this painting, a mastery that we want to qualify as excise, pure, essential. Elegance is also adorned with a beautiful and lascivious magic, due to a material to which the wax seems to give a very particular fluidity.
