Carole Sionnet & PieR Gajewski

Carole Sionnet & PieR Gajewski is a group formed by artist Carole Sionnet, director and photographer, and PieR Gajewski, comic strip author and draftsman. Together, they focu on these two medias : the fixed image.

Carole Sionnet & PieR Gajewski realize an original work combining poetry and visual richness. We can cite " The Blue City", "Japan Neighboorhood" and "New-York Neighboorhood". Their work creates a real dialogue between photography and drawing, which correspond to the urban dialogue where a multitude of information and graphic signs blend.
To create their canvases, Carole Sionnet & PieR Gajewski do at first an individual and then a collective work. At the beginning, they explore a city each one of them on their side, photographing a scene here, drawing a monument or a character there. They then get together to discuss about their discoveries, through a well though and incredibly original game of questions and answers.

"Japanese Neighboorhood" is exhibited at the Pompidou Center. Carole Sionnet & PieR Gajewski have also exhibited their work in New York, for the Istanbul and New Rochelle Exhibition in 2013. They were also winners of the artists residence at the Royal Corderie- International Center of the Sea in 2014, they have also been invited by the French Institute Essaouira to stay in the artist residence in Essaouira, Morrocco in 2015. Very engaged in researches and creative works, the two artist have also done an artist residence at the Kujoyama Villa in Japan as well as at the Rochefort Ocean. In 2016, they were the winners at the Pierrevert photographic festival.
