Born in 1981 - France
Laure André was born in Mont Saint Marin, France in 1981. She lives and works in Strasbourg, France. She holds a Master in Art DNSEP degree from the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg (Valedictorian).
Laure André's work is rich in meanings. She defines herself as a visual artist, as she works with all types of media, including unconventional ones, such as petals of flowers, communion wafers, entomology boxes, robes etc.
Her practice is built around memory: memories of the deceased, of objects that belonged to them, of the trace that they have left after their passage on earth, and especially their lives through acts of faith. From this idea also derives a work around death and the fear of injury and accidents.
Laure André's universe is not purely conceptual, because she is interested in creating "finished" works, well-design technically, shaped by thoroughness of the gesture and aesthetics that are the result of extended research.
