Paul MAULPOIX is an artist who works on the borders of the Meuse and the Ardennes in the small village of Signy Montlibert. Coming from a family of artists, he has been practicing drawing and painting since his adolescence and sculpture since the beginning of the 90s. Artists present in many collections, he exhibits regularly in France, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg. He was awarded at the Salon d'Automne in 2013 His sculpted work ranges from monumental pieces in marble to intimate bronze sculptures that he founds himself in his studio. If he crosses the mediums, it is because he constantly and recurrently explores two universes, grace and suffering .... Voluptuousness and softness of models bordering on geometric abstraction to express sensuality and the grace of the female body that he works in black marble from Belgium, a delicately iridescent marble that plays with light and a particularly silky velvety. His bronze work voluntarily bears the marks of the artist's gestures to express with strength and sensitivity human suffering or animal suffering. Emaciated bodies, emaciated faces often seized with fear and torment, deformed bodies, witnesses of the ravages of the time. This resolutely expressionist work bears witness to a great sensitivity to the human being, to injustice, to the precariousness of our human condition, but also an ultimate form of hope for generosity, empathy and solidarity.
