Presentation

Catherine Rafenberg lives and works in Quimper. A pupil of Joëlle Serve and Venturelli, she has been leading a family life and an artistic quest in concert since the 1970s. It is at the Beaux Arts in Paris that she discovers the pleasure of rapid, powerful, compact drawing, a true vital writing, the gushing out of a line as an essential movement is at the heart of his daily gestures. The momentum of these curves incorporates color pigments, the dominance of which varies according to a strong and rich palette. From the flexible roundness of the composition are born Venus sometimes modest, chaste and pure, out of original sin in harmony with the cosmos, sometimes profane and provocative, incarnations of the carnal appetite, the intoxication of amorous transports and temptations to lust. Closer to the colored masses of the Brucke, the rhythmic line is part of the rawness of Rembrandt or Schiele. Catherine Rafenberg a virtuoso of color.
