Biography

Jean-Paul Moscovino was born in Paris in 1947. After studying classical drawing, he explored different techniques: watercolor, intaglio, silkscreen, before he specialized in metal sculpture and particularly in metal pliage (folding).

Jean-Paul Moscovino sculpts the colour as one would play with a peel to reconstitute the fruit … and this ambiguity of the material summarizes all the magic and the interrogations of the passage of a world in the other one : does the form exist because the full or because the void?

Only, the layer of colour can testify the interaction of these two "enlightened" realities. And if the artist seeks its marks in the representation of this frontier, which he cuts out and folds to find the third dimension, the thickness of every thing, the approached themes are always figurative : the body is the unique way of the trip!

The life is thus made of loved balances between material and spiritual, visible and invisible, finished and infinite…
