Presentation

BElie is a graffiti artist and painter born in Limoges in the seventies. A secretive child, she grew up in the countryside. BElie then deceives her boredom with brushes and pencils by drawing graffiti on school tables and walls. Encouraged by her highschool arts teacher, she attended evening classes and had her first exhibitions, in particular by collaborating with the porcelain makers of Limoges.

In 2000, she realized her dream by moving to Paris, which will be a turning point for her art and she will develop a fascination for the street. Influenced by the photographer Raymond Depardon and the painter Edward Hopper, she travels with her sketchbook through old Clichy, passing through Ménilmontant, to the Butte aux Cailles. For nearly ten years, BElie worked with the oil on canvas technique on the theme of the destinies she meets and made exhibitions in art fairs in the main European capitals.

In 2019, she spent several days in the street art district of Bushwick in New York, and upon her return decided to leave the constraints frame to draw in the street. She then returns to her first love through ephemeral art to express herself in the streets of Barcelona, Arcachon or Lille. In search of places to live, she turns the street into an open-air museum by placing her paintings or graffiti there with a touch of poetry.

In a feminine and colorful style, her graffiti paintings illustrate mindfulness, the crossroads, the discovery of bodies. Color appears as the expression of the souls it reveals.

Colorist, each shade is an essential element revealing a harmonious composition. Each of her paintings is an open window on the moments of life that touch her heart. Influenced by her philosophical readings, BElie writes a dedicated text for each of her creations. It is the meeting between painting and writing to build a global work that makes this artist a provocateur of emotions.
