Born in 1968 - France
François Benoit-Lison is a French artist born in 1968, in Manche.
François Benoit-Lison turned to painting later in life, and made his first exhibition of sculptures (Clay, plaster, concrete, steel and polymers), in 1988, in a figurative and contemporary style.
In 1990 he held his first exhibition of oil paintings around themes of women, men and the world, of its design and its realization.
From 1994 to 1996 he enriches his sculptural practice next to the painter and sculptor Papyo; the following years, he met painters Archiguille and Giger who will strongly influenciate his practice as well.
Today, he makes abstract works of major gestural power and contrasting colors that express his sensibility, his inner world, his dreams, his rage and the evil in the world.
François Benoit-Lison uses a large number of techniques, starting with oil and acrylics, but does many of his works with tar and oil. He gets his inspiration from artists such as Pollock, Caravaggio, Schiele, Giger, Archiguille or Hieronymus Bosch.
