Florence Vasseur

Florence Vasseur was born in Paris and lives and works in Palaiseau, France. She studied applied arts at the Ecole des Métiers d’Arts Duperré and got a BTS in Textiles and Printmaking in 1985. She first worked as a stylist and as a scenographer for theatre plays. She has always painted in parallel.

Florence Vasseur teaches art at the Froinçoise Conte school in Paris since 1994. She keeps painting, combining in her pictorial experiments textile art, printmaking and wax.

"In my reasearch I rely on traditional techniques and practices: drawing, printmaking, weaving, recomposing, overlapping elements...

The figures that I print on textiles make the material fragile and I create vibrations with the threads that sho the inner layers; I use was to freeze different layers, like moments, without losing the depth of the works. there are things that disappear and things that emerge.

It is in whithin this dynamic that I want to place my practice, showing the different stages of the process."
