Fabien Granet

Born in 1970, Fabien Granet lives and works between Angoulême and Paris. in the late '90s, after studying at the Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux, he decided to dedicate himself entirely to his artistic career. in the 1990s he moved to Paris and, for 10 years, he works as a journalist and TV and documentary producer, but he never stops creating images (viseos, drawings). In 2008 he decided again to dedicated himself to his art full-time.

Fabien Granet's images are born of a "big bang", they are hijacked and transposed in different settings. Like multiple fragments, his drawings are made of a constellation of referents, from everyday life to art history, cinema, pop imagery. Time is suspended, the balance is fragile, even tense sometimes, and the spectator has to ask himself some questions.

Fabien Granet's images often have a poetical and absurd deeper meaning, and, with humour and irony, they let reveal themselves to our eyes like preys. We are then free to construct our own narratives. The void is important in these images: both as luminous density and afor the balance of the compositions; it shows us a powerful trait connecting characters, the mineral, the architecture... As a guideline, the void takes us to the heart of our beliefs, our paradoxes, our memories and sometimes even our fears. Fabien Granet offers us a window to these strange dreams, through drawings that stimulate thought.
