Laurence Poitou is a painter and illustrator. She studied at the Paris Beaux-Arts School with Jean-Michel Alberola and graduated in 2000. She lives and works in Paris.
Laurence Poitou also illustrates children books and is also a printmaker, working with the "Ah !" collective, together with artists Valérie Voyer and Suzie Chic.
The last years she has been also painting landscapes. Laurence Poitou produced the series of oil and watercolor works "Rêveries au bord de la rivière" (Dreaming by the river) in 2011-2013 and "Les crieurs" (The Screamers) in 2013-2015. Her colors are warm and matte. "Everything is whispered. Instead of radioating toward the exterior, my screamers catch the light, they internalize it and exude it like fire under the ashes."
