Born in 1956 - France
Eric Bourse was born in 1956 in northern France, in Saint Amand les Eaux. After working several jobs (one of which was ice cream vendor), he opened a logistics company in 1987. He started to paint in 1981, and little by little painting took an essential place in his life, evolving at the same time as his existential questions.
Today Eric Bourse divides his time between his studio in the Haute Savoie, Carroz d’Arâches and his studio in Dordogne between Bergerac and Saint-Emilion, and shows his works in the major capitals of the world. During his career he explored numerous painting techniques, from watercolor to pastel, oil and acylic, as well as mixed techniques.
Eric Bourse's pictorial practice has been evolving constantly, and he doesn't hesitate to mix abstraction and figuration in his captivating compositions. The themes of his paintings are inspired by his life experiences and he likes to say that he paints his life and his emotions. He paints everyday life scenes, his impressions, his feelings.
The awe he feels before a beautiful landscape when he travels, a glass of wine, or simply love - all these constitute the subject matter of his paintings. He also deals with more serious issues such as revolt or his moments of pain.
