Born in 1966 - France
Nils Cale was born in 1966. He worked as a designer and a photographer and was keen on underground cinema and more specifically the poetic universe of Lynch, Wenders and Tarkovsky. He creates composite worlds as tributes to the great masters of pop art.
His montages calls to mind famous artists such as like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Raoul Rauschenberg.
All his works are composed of hundreds of photos and multimedia collages. Film excerpts, cut up pictures, all sorts of pictorial scraps, paint samples... Each work is a huge visual clutter that takes on a coherent and powerful shape on the canvas.
