Sophie Cavalié

Parisian artist Sophie Cavalié is a graduate of the École nationale supérieure des Arts Appliqués Olivier de Serre, of the Atelier des Beaux Arts de Paris and of the Atelier de la Miroiterie with Alain Vuarchex - Paris XI.

Sophie Cavalié's work is inspired by nature. Her models are the water, the trees, turtles, clouds... But when she re-creates the circles in the water in metal, or the bark of trees in clay, she actually sends us a message about human nature.

The vegetal and the animal world are there to make us think of humanity. Sophie Cavalié places herself at the periphery to better see the center of what torments her: all the disparitions, the erosions, the ageing... does all this reapper one day?

This metempsychosis that we'd wish to be inherent to everything that lives... she waits for it, and makes us wait with her, as what she reveals in her art is the materialisation of this crazy hope.
