Tanguy Tolila was born in 1950 in France. He graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts and the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs of Paris, Tanguy Tolila's work was not only exhibited in galleries but also in artistic centers, museums and important heritage areas. In 2002 he settled his workshop in Angers.
Tanguy Tolila has been painting for many years on the theme of the thread and the line. His work is characterized by the graphic rigor and a very diversified choice of materials (papers, tracing papers, maps, music scores, old book's covers). In a reflexion about life and disappearance of objects and beings, the artist uses the support as a tool to make colored shapes appear and disappear. The light that emerges from the artworks creates a particular emotion; touching directly the spectator, that seems overwhelmed by this appeasing limpidity.
