Presentation

Born in 1959 in Concarneau, Jacques Hervé is a French photographer. He lives and works in Concarneau.

The artist grew up at the sea. He was fascinated by this, to such a point that he joined the Navy. During a trip to the Reunion Islands, he discovered photography and some of his friends taught him the basics and black and white processing. However, Jacques Hervé embarked on this adventure only in 2000, partly due to digital photo processing. This is when he left to rediscover his childhood places.

His work is clearly influenced by Michael Kenna, Ragnar Axelson and Michel Thersiquel, each one has his specialty. His photos are filled with sensitivity, where natural light has the key role and therefore he doesn't have to use any kind of software. He mainly finds this light in Northern areas with a restless sea and a temperamental sky. Even though Brittany remains his main source of inspiration, the artist's main goal is to capture wonderful moments that populate the coast.
