Born in 1945 - France
Born in 1945 in Toulouse, Jacques Majos is a French painter.
When he was still very young, Jacques Majos turned to painting which led him to exhibit his work when he was not even 18. He trained himself in academic art autodidactically, working from photographs taken by him.
Never really stopping his painting practice, he began a professional career in a completely different field. During the 90s, he learned how to work with a knife, with the help of Françoise Marie, a painting teacher. He began then a training at the "Club Art et Loisirs" of Versoud where he learned all the technical foundations of painting.
Light plays an important role in his work. Jacques Majos uses the wet on wet technique, which plays on an alternation of thick or thin painted surfaces as well as on a dark and light juxtaposition. The painter focuses on depicting figurative landscapes of great beauty and serenity. Through his pieces, he wants to show the generosity of a harmonious and bright nature.
In order to achieve this, Jacques Majos gets inspired by the landscapes of Brittany and Grésivaudan .
His work has been rewarded with the audience award at the "Salon d'Automne de Muret" in 2013, an award at the "Spring Fair of amateur painters of Fonsorbes" and the EurOpenArt Honor Award in 2015.
