Djam

Djamel Dellil, whose artistic name is Djam is a painter born in 1972 in Calais where he currently lives. Djam, as far as he can remember always had a predisposition for the visual arts, he also attended for several years the School of Fine Arts of Calais where he got his inspiration for painting from a teacher .

The meeting of several street art artists are behind his very graphic and atypical style. For several years between 2005 and 2010, Djam worked on the creation of a totemic character, half-alien, half human which he painted on his canvas in mostly sociological subjects. During this period, his palette was generally colored but upon completion it became darker, a sign that it was time to turn the page and write a new one.

This way, Djam crossed a major turning point by returning to his fundamentals, those of his youth. No doubt, his style became more graphic lying at the intersection of painting, graffiti and cartoons, in the tradition of free figuration and the new pop. His style is unique, the subjects are committed and the provocative messages are addressed with humor.
