Presentation

Ge. Pellini, an artist who abides by the "Less is more" principle, keeps on sustaining and purifying his artistic proceeding. His diverse variations on the theme of the horned animal sustain his current research and projects. Thus he deliberately enlarges the horn, draws more flexible lines and eliminates the details that he finds somewhat boring. His mighty animals, for instance the bull or the rhinoceros, aren’t frozen but shaped in their own movements.

This artist, born in Nancy (France), is not just an animal sculptor, or a naturalist, but also one who analyses the quintessence of his subjects. His need for creating is obvious but the working drawing takes him quite a long and demanding time. Perfectionist and full of passion as he is, he sculpts in the finest marble, which is a heavy and inconvenient material.

By dint of muscular and artistic power, he is cast away by a subtle, tridimensional process into the far reaching spheres of today’s artistic creations. There rises a mighty form of art : the shades underline the main, plain and pure lines.

There rise the volumes and the careful polish enhance the mineral matter.
From the original marble piece to the bronze or aluminium works there oozes the delicate touch by way of a plain aesthetic drive which bursts forth and is the specificity of the artist.Pellini is able to catch the very essence of things and shuns complexity.

States the artist willingly : "Technique can’t dominate art", "to reach plainness one has to be right". These aphorisms perfectly apply to his productions. This plainness of his should be seen as a straightforward, aesthetic and forceful drive to the essential, which can also be found in his nature. This artist enthrals you with his omnipresent character.

That is precisely what singles him out : that never ending quest, that obvious refusal of realism, those timeless conceptions that are akin to abstraction and which are quite figurative, though.

If Ge Pellini is often called abroad it is to work on a large scale. In China his famous "French Kiss" carved on the spot in a 50 ton block – can be found in the world’s largest sculpture park. His works also sit in the Fine Art Museun in Edirne (Turkey), outside the Museum of Modern Art in Guatemala-City, in the town hall of Komrat (Moldavia-Gagauzia) in Akita (Japan), Penza (Russia) and Opole (Poland).
