Eugène Lion lived between 1867 and 1945 in France.

He is part of a real dinasty of potters that began in Arquian around 1750 with Pierre Lion, but Eugène Lion remians its main representative. Sculptor Jean Carriès was a friend of the Lion family and Eugène benefited from what she learned at the now called, Carriès School, with a very personal interpretation he combined Asian inspiration and local tradition, using strong contrasts.

He worked as well with othe artist who were part of this movement such as William Lee, Paul Jeanneney and Abbé Pacton. He then started using red copper in 1920, which gave birth to a remarkable red wine lees which was very successful and a good add to his reputation. He made original and personal shapes creating a synthesis between a traditional object and an object of art, from the rural world and the urban world as well.

He won a medal at the Lépine Competition in 1933.
