Presentation

Pierre Jeanneret is a French artist, born in 1896 and died in 1967.

He studied at the Fine Arts School of Geneva and worked with Auguste and Gustave Perret after his course.

Due to family ties, Pierre Jeanneret was able to work with his cousin, namely Le Corbusier. They created several projects together and did research work on architecture. Their collaboration began in 1922 when they wrote the « Cinq Points vers une Nouvelle Architecture ».

This manifest marked major progress in his sector, implementing the foundation for modern architecture. Villa Savoye is considered to be a seminal work to illustrate the five pillars of architecture.

With Le Corbusier, they began a construction site in India, to build low cost buildings. Le Corbusier left but Pierre Jeanneret stayed and became head architect. To lead these operations properly, he stayed on spot for 15 years. The construction site in Chandigarh became a reference of modern architecture.
