Elisabeth Ménard

Born in 1946 - France

Elisabeth Ménard was born in 1946. She lives and works in Paris.

Elisabeth Ménard was born September 1946, she was born 9 months after the released of her father, who was a prisoner of war.

Luck bought her to meet painter Jo Downing since her childhood, she was confronted and sensitized to painting by visiting often with her mother, a couple of friends, who had a huge black canvas in their small studio, which captivated the little girl she was then. Staël's mother had her as a pupil for a time and she became interested in Stael's work, as well.

Her painting expresses what she can not say with words and only music can accompany it. Each painting is an adventure, nothing is decided in advance and this is what she likes: an imaginary landscape comes to her mind, she agrees to it, so she enters and discovers it.

"I might as well say of course I dream because none of what I paint does not exists."

- Elisabeth Ménard
