Françoise Bongard is a painter and writer. She was born in Villemomble in 1955.
She entered the Duperré Applied Arts School in Paris, at the age of 13 years old. She studied different pictorial techniques, live model and comics. During the second year, she specialized herself in drawing and oil painting. Very attached to this craft, she develops artworks where the knowhow, restrictive, allows her to reach a jubilant freedom. Through her red chalks, charcoals and oil paintings, fluid and delicate, she joins the poetic dimension of the subjects that she initially paints: portraits, still lifes and landscapes.
For over 20 years, she was an illustrator, in the press and the edition. At the same time, she was a painter and was exhibited in Paris and the province: Comparaison Gallery in Rue du Faubourg St Honoré, Mouvances Gallery Place des Vosges in Paris, Eric Chesnais Gallery in Alençon in 2007, her palette an paintings, until today devoted to literary imaginary characters, are transforming. She paints landscapes that allow seeing in depth, from linear, traditional and atmospheric perspectives that allow the eye to escape from all walks of life. The space among the objects becomes the subject that is released in halftones.
Her pictorial universe is based on a free figuration that tries to suggest the moving as well as the unchanging character of the nature. Her recent atmospheres, substantially enveloping the landscape, allow to translate a positive apprehension of the space, nature and its mysteries, fixed in their natural beauty, making of each artwork a favorable place to contemplation.
