Philippe R Berthommier was born in France in 1969. He has graduated from the Ecole Régionale Supérieure des Beaux Arts in Tours.
His work has been shown in China, in Beijing and Shanghai in 2006 and 2007, in Istanbul in 2007 and he has been featured in group shows in France and in Europe.
There are several American collectors who have become interested in his work since his participation at the Art Expo in New York in 2000.
His rich and colorful work is inspired by personal and collective memories. His canvases are veritable architectures of the memory and they are fragments that organize themselves in a network tending towards a unity of the surface. The material and the colors build its balance.
His paintings are inspired by childhood memories such as the fishing trips he used to take with his grandfather, his trips to Africa and the many books he read. Philippe R. Berthommier creates an atmosphere that can feel familiar to us and in which he adds his artistic sensitivity.
