Born in 1973 - France
Erwan Boulloud is a French sculptor designer.
By combining art and technique, Erwan Boulloud creates matter, furniture, luminaires, and sculptures. He graduated from the École Boulle in 1995, and acquired perfectionism and a unique savoir-faire that he will bring to different creators as Hervé van der Straeten or Hubert Le Gall. He also worked on the scenography of the collections of famous museums like Le Louvre, CNAM, or the Natural History Museum.
In 2003, Erwan opens his first workshop. Creation starts with in preamble a work on material: metal, wood, glass; mineral or vegetable; crude, burned or polished, peeled, rebuild; he reveals the depth.
Each creation of Erwan Boulloud represents the instant of the on-going development of a story where the movement is written and perceptible. Each furniture is initially thought as a sculpture, then as a utilitarian object. The complementarity of the materials replaces their visible opposition. Artworks succeed creating lines, bifurcations, intersections, disappearances and mutations. Through his lights, the metal is a skeleton that the light adorns as a skin, delivering us a surprisingly living object with curves and shadow effects of a subtle harmony.
Each creation is hand-made, in the artist's workshop, as unique pieces or few numbered copies. They can also be declined and realized, only on order, with options and different dimensions.
