Born in 1975 - France
Bastien Carré is a French artist specialized in "lumigraphie", born in Aix en Provence in 1975. After studying design at Ecole Olivier de Serres in Paris during 4 years, then 2 years in Sweden, he gradually developed a passion for light. Initially an artisan creator for "furniture decor”, he turned towards art in 2007, when he noticed the true potential of LED, and realized that one didn't take enough advantage of it in the artistic sector.
Slowly Bastien Carré evolved his technique and this allowed him to transform his central theme in art work. This is how he created structures, paintings and luminous furniture, by placing his LED on current wires and called these creations "lumigraphies", short for "lumière" and "graphe".
By testing out different sources, filters and mediums through poetry and lightness, he managed to achieve unanimous support from the public and professionals, such as the designer Ingo Maurer, who considered Carré as the major future actor in the world of light.
