Olivier Megaton was born on August 6, 1965, exactly 20 years after the bombing of Hiroshima (his artist name echoes the bombing). Involved in the urban culture and the associative and alternative movements of the ?80s, he starts his career as a graffiti artist.
He shows his work in France and travels the world, ?armed? with his spray paint, creating hundreds of faces like colored icons on the walls of cities. Ten years later, inspired by Jean-Baptiste Mondino, he chooses to work with the animated image, works for the television and he realizes shorts, clips and commercials for brands such as Nike, Coca-Cola, Kinder, Fiat or Audi.
In 2000, he produces his first feature film, EXIT, and Luc Besson is a part of the project; they start a long-term collaboration. He then produces SIRENE ROUGE, TRANSPORTER 3, COLOMBIANA and TAKEN 2, and earns international recognition.
Today he is still working with painting, and, even if the spray can has been replaced by collages and ink, he continues to immortalize great historic personalities, such as Jesus Christ, Lenin, Mao, Arthur Rimbaud, Pasolini, Marylin Monroe, the Mona Lisa... And rock?n?roll icons : Jim Morrisson, Joe Strummer, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Rotten, John Lennon.
