Born in 1943, Henri Kartmann is a French photographer and visual artist. He lives and works in Haute Provence.

The artist questions the representation of nature and landscapes. He wants to redefine it, particularly based on material effects in order to identify the limits of these space.
In the late 60s, he created visually realistic, concrete and completely abstract pieces. Now a days, the artist creates as well, figurative pieces that are always mysterious.

His highly innovative work bought him to exhibit his work in France and abroad and several journals has published his pictures. He published his own photography book, which he called "Greenhouse Effect or aesthetics remains" in 2005. The same year he received the prize of the The Ultimate Eye Foundation of San Francisco, which led him to expose at the Peninsula Museum of Art. He was appointed, in Mai 2008 at the International Festival of Environmental Images of Paris. In 2012 his work was exhibited at the World Water Forum and the following year, he exposed his work in Cuba and Montélimar.

Henri Kartmann is also one of the event organizers of the "Nuits Photographies de Pierrevert".
