Originally from Saint-Brieuc where he was born in 1970, Phillippe Bertho left his family when he was 18 years old to settled in Paris.
Phillippe Bertho studied at the Blot School, a school of decorative painting in Reims. Once he graduated the artist started practicing very soon, the art of mural frescoes and acquired a certain notoriety with this practice. He then became a teacher in several decorative painting schools (IPEDEC Paris). After doing for several years big optical illusion murals, he tried doing them in a smaller format with oil in a canvas, which he exhibited later on with great success, in the 2000's. At first recognized only in the United States, he decided then to make himself a name in Europe.
He was very Influenced by the emerging of street art, and later on by pop art, even if he claims no affiliation to it. In his painting practice, he has been developing a very personal aesthetics, in a unique style and has cultivated the trait of elegance.
Phillippe Bertho's pieces are displayed in several public collection in institution and in private collection of big collectors all around the world.
